Why I’m Going to Kenya & Uganda — And Why I’m Asking for Your Help

My first time in Africa changed the direction of my life.

I was young when I traveled to Tanzania SOLO on a mission trip — helping build schools, teaching children English, and spending days with kids whose joy somehow outshined the challenges they faced. I remember sitting in a classroom with no air-conditioning, no technology, no excess — just bright eyes, laughter, and a hunger to learn and help their world.
I went there thinking I was going to help. I came home realizing I had been changed.

That trip opened my eyes to something I couldn’t unsee: how deeply connected people are to their land, their communities, and to one another — and how much good can happen when we choose to show up with humility, presence, and care.

Since then, the pull toward humanitarian work has never left me. And finally, with my socials at a high, and my career… It’s finally time I can help with everything I have.
Now, years later, I’m returning to East Africa — to Kenya and Uganda — not as someone chasing an experience, but as someone answering a calling that began all those years ago. This journey is about supporting people who dedicate their lives to protecting wildlife, preserving forests, educating children, caring for displaced families, and safeguarding cultural knowledge before it disappears.

I’m raising money now because I’ve seen firsthand what even small acts of support can do. I’ve watched confidence grow in children who were simply given the chance. I’ve watched communities flourish when they were trusted and resourced. I’ve seen the shock, the smiles, the heart of people who believe in good. I want to be the good in the world.
This trip is my way of continuing that work — standing alongside youth conservation groups, elders, educators, refugees, and caretakers who are already doing the hardest work with the fewest resources.
